Welcome

We are a Foundation Comprehensive College with 1046 students on roll which includes 137 in Post 16 education. Our aim is to cater for all abilities and to provide a challenging and accessible curriculum that has at its centre the achievement, interests and abilities of our young people.

We are very proud of our students and their achievements. In 2011 and in 2012 we celebrated our best results ever, and we are confident that we will surpass this yet again with 2013’s results. Having said that, this is a college that is far from complacent about results. We don’t just want our youngsters to make expected progress: our goal is to provide teaching and learning that ensures good progress. Furthermore, it is the character and outlook of our youngsters that is our greatest source of pride. Visitors always comment on the openness, friendliness and positivity of our young people. The College achieves what it does through working in partnership with parents and this is something we look constantly to develop.

We expect high standards of behaviour from all our students and ask parents to support us in this. It is important that all students attend college every day that they are punctual; they follow college rules and work hard.

At Laisterdyke we want all students to feel safe and enjoy coming to the college. We have lots of things in place to ensure that students feel safe and they are well supported and guided. In fact, in our last OFSTED inspection all aspects of our inclusion work and care for students were rated ‘Good’.

I hope you look through the sections of this website and find it useful and informative. Please note however, that we are in the process of updating and ordering the information held here.

Curriculum Statement

Our central purpose is to ensure that all students at Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College achieve the highest standards of which they are capable and become learners not just for the time they are with us – but for life.

Aims of the Curriculum

Our Curriculum is one which:

  • Compels every student to engage, progress and achieve through high quality individual learning pathways;
  • Develops confident, independent learners through rich, connected learning experiences;
  • Promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of students and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

Free School Meals

Did you know … just registering your child for Free School Meals means that the school gets extra money?

Register now to make sure we don’t miss out

The Government is giving money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called a ‘Pupil Premium’.

For every child registered Laisterdyke Business & Enterprise College gets £600 this year.

With this money we could increase the resources that we designate to improving the teaching and learning of our students and in particular raise the attainment of lower performing students.

Please register as soon as possible to make sure your child and others in their class don’t miss out. You can find out more by reading this letter.
